I rarely do this on the blog (only other time was to link to a classic Isaac Asimov article on Thanksgiving Day, for crying out loud!), but the following fantastic tale of froyontrepreneurship, pivoting, and corporate chicanery in WIRED is just too good not to share.

It’s related to the age-old truth that experimentation often begets ideation - meaning oftentimes, the product you start making isn’t the always the product customers need you to make - so you have to be willing to “go off-road” (which is an insider reference to a great story about innovation at Michelin), and deviate from the direction you had originally been heading.
